Engineering Quantum Nanophotonic Components from Hexagonal Boron Nitride

چکیده
Integrated quantum photonics (IQP) provides a path to practical, scalable computation, communications and information processing. Realization of an IQP platform requires controlled engineering many nanophotonic components. However, the range materials for monolithic platforms is limited by simultaneous need high-quality light sources, high optical performance, availability nanofabrication techniques. Here, fabrication components from recently emerged material hexagonal boron nitride (hBN), including tapered waveguides, microdisks, 1D 2D photonic crystal cavities, demonstrated. Resonators with quality factors greater than 4000 are achieved, proof-of-principle complex, free-standing circuitry fabricated single-crystal hBN engineered. The results show potential integrated technologies.

Chemical and Bandgap Engineering in Monolayer Hexagonal Boron Nitride
Monolayer hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) possesses a wide bandgap of ~6 eV. Trimming down the bandgap is technically attractive, yet poses remarkable challenges in chemistry. One strategy is to topological reform the h-BN's hexagonal structure, which involves defects or grain boundaries (GBs) engineering in the basal plane. The other way is to invite foreign atoms, such as carbon, to forge biza...
متن کاملTOPICAL REVIEW Graphene on Hexagonal Boron Nitride
The field of graphene research has developed rapidly since its first isolation by mechanical exfoliation in 2004. Due to the relativistic Dirac nature of its charge carriers, graphene is both a promising material for next-generation electronic devices and a convenient low-energy testbed for intrinsically high-energy physical phenomena. Both of these research branches require the facile fabricat...
متن کاملInter-layer potential for hexagonal boron nitride.
A new interlayer force-field for layered hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) based structures is presented. The force-field contains three terms representing the interlayer attraction due to dispersive interactions, repulsion due to anisotropic overlaps of electron clouds, and monopolar electrostatic interactions. With appropriate parameterization, the potential is able to simultaneously capture wel...
